WOODEN SPOKESHAVE CLASS
COME MAKE YOUR OWN WOOD BODY SPOKESHAVE

INSTRUCTOR: RUSS FILBECK

Class Fees and Schedule

 

STUDENT (pre-sharpened) TOOLS NEEDED –

  1. Small back saw or Japanese ryoba (rip & crosscut combination) saw
  2. Stanley #271 miniature router plane (very helpful if you have one)
  3. Bench chisels: 1/8”, ¼”, ½”, ¾”
  4. Carving gouge: 3/8” #8 sweep
  5. Plane float or Vix file(curved tooth) (great if you have one)
  6. Pattern maker’s rasp, #49 or #50
  7. Hand scraper
  8. Block plane or #04 bench plane
  9. 12” ruler
  10. 6” combination square, or small engineer’s square, 2” or 4”
  11. Small center punch
  12. 4” or 6” caliper with depth gage
  13. Pencil and a fine point marker pen
  14. Camera—photograph each step as you make your spoke shave

Complete instructions, demonstrations and a plan of procedure will be provided along with the materials needed to make the spoke shave.
